And so you should. Nowadays, the vast majority of companies have an internet presence. Our own personal dependence on the internet and its growing importance means that online business marketing is something you must embrace when you are planning on promoting your company.
So where do you start?
Well there is an abundance of information that is freely available via the internet on how to market your business and how to make a blog / website.

Where do you go when you want to find out more information about a product or service?More and more people are answering that question with ‘the internet’. We are all turning to and using the Internet as our first port of call to check out products, services and company information.
So that’s what individuals will be doing if they want to see what your company offers and if you don’t have an online presence, guess what they will do?
Exactly, go elsewhere. Find another company who do have an internet presence.
It’s much harder for new businesses, as they have no customer base and cannot rely on word of mouth recommendations.
The opposite is true for established businesses. They can rely on word of mouth and they already have a loyal customer base.
It is often natural for new companies to be intimidated, anxious and, maybe, terrified by the thought of having to build and maintain a website without experienced support or knowledge. This in turn can make them procrastinate and not start their online presence.
But nowadays building a web site or blog is so much easier.
By using the free WordPress software, websites and blogs can be built very, very quickly and easily, irrespective of your technical ability.
All the information you would ever need to know and understand to build a blog or website and attract visitors can be found via the internet.
Bu searching on the internet you could easily find the information on how to start from scratch in building your blog including the setting up of a domain name, the hosting of your blog and actually making the blog with wordpress…all for free.
It may take some patience and some note taking but you will find all the information you need, eventually.
And one of the best ways to connect with your market and future customers is through online forums or discussion boards.
A forum is basically a virtual meeting place for people with the same interest, who post messages and questions on the subject of that forum.
So do a Google search for your business area, for instance ‘interior design’ and then add the word “forum”, so you end up searching for “interior design forum”.
You will find some forums that are not very active i.e. not many people ‘talking’ or sharing advice/concerns. Skip those ones. Find forums where there is lots of chat, everyday.
Once you have found a forum or two you like, find out what the forum members like and don’t like. Note down the things they are looking for, their problems and complaints
Some individuals may already be mentioning certain products and services and what they think about them. This could tell you if the existing products available are any good.
But when you are at the forums, don’t just read - add your own comments, questions and concerns as well.
And if you add your business contact information in your signature / profile, you may drive more people back to your site.
So remember all the information you need is free on the internet to find out how to make a blog and get your company online.
